Boston's first album would go on to become one of the most influential albums in hard rock history and vaulted a completely unknown rock act into rock star status. Boston founder Tom Scholz invented a new sound which at the time was unheard of in rock 'n roll: the platinum 'sheen' of fully-produced yet heavily distorted guitars and intricate keyboard work over a precision rhythm section. But perhaps the most recognizable ingredient was the cutting, bluesy and skillful high tenor of lead vocalist Brad Delp.
